Bethesda design director confirms Fallout- New Vegas is still canon- ‘Of course it is’-

The Fallout TV series arrived this week and the response has been almost entirely positive. Almost. Not everyone is on board with Prime TV’s adaptation of the beloved Fallout series: some fans have a major beef when it comes to the repercussions the show has on established Fallout lore, even though the show is set after the events of the games.

I won’t spoil things here, but midway through the series we learn the date of an important event that may (or may not) overlap with the timeline of Fallout: New Vegas. This led some Fallout fans to claim that the New Vegas storyline was being retconned out of Fallout lore altogether. Other conflicting details in the show raised concerns that Fallout 1 and 2 were getting the same treatment. In other words, some fans wondered, are al…

EA’s final FIFA game is on-track to be the best-selling in series history-

Electronic Arts has posted its financial results for the third quarter of financial year 2023, which is to say the last three months of 2022, and has said that FIFA 23 is on-track to be the most played and profitable entry in the series to date. The announcement is tinged with the slight irony that this will of course be the last FIFA game ever made by Electronic Arts, which following its bust-up with football’s governing body is to re-launch the games this summer under the new EA Sports FC brand.

“In Q3, EA delivered high-quality experiences, driving record engagement across some of our biggest franchises and growing our player network. While our teams delivered for our players, the current macro environment impacted Q3 results,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic…

Fresh AMD Zen 5 CPU details leak suggesting a likely launch date between April and June of this year-

Further details are beginning to leak for AMD’s next generation of desktop processors built on the Zen 5 architecture. These new “Granite Ridge” CPUs are currently expected for release in the first half of this year, and we’re now starting to see information that looks to add some credence to the earlier rumours referencing the new chips.

These most recent leaks come from a tweet from known AMD leaker High Yield YT (via TechPowerUp), and seem to give weight to some of the previously rumoured details that have already been doing the rounds for AMD’s next desktop CPUs. AMD will reportedly be using the Ryzen 9000 series model numbering scheme, which was to be expected as the 8000 series moniker is already being used for the new AM5 APUs based on “Hawk Point”.

It took 25 years but we’re finally getting a new Blade Runner game-

It’s been quite a while since we had a Blade Runner game on PC—roughly 25 years, in fact, since Westwood Studio’s 1997 action adventure Blade Runner arrived. Prior to that, there was only the Blade Runner side-scroller from 1985 for the Commodore 64.

Weird that there are a zillion Star Wars and Aliens games, but only two Blade Runner games, isn’t it?

Well, we’re finally going to get another Blade Runner game, as announced by publisher Annapurna Interactive today. It’s called Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, and as you can tell by the date it’s set between the events of the original film (which took place in 2019) and Blade Runner 2049. Interestingly, it’ll be the first game to be developed in-house by Annapurna, too. You can check out the reveal trailer above.

Dying Light- The Beast is a standalone game starring Kyle Crane that started out as DLC, and will be free for owners of Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition-

Techland just announced the next game in the Dying Light series at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. It’s called Dying Light: The Beast, and it’s set between the events of Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human. It also marks the return of Kyle Crane, hero of the original game, voiced once more by Roger Craig Smith.

Even at a quick glance there’s a few interesting things to discuss about The Beast. First, it actually began as DLC for Dying Light 2, but grew so big Techland decided to turn it into a standalone game. It’s also set in a place called Castor Woods, a “once-bustling tourist destination” that’s been overrun by zombies. You’re leaving the densely packed city behind and going rural in this one.

FF14 director Yoshi-P says ‘possibly 98%’ of the team are inspired by Elden Ring, but assures players Dawntrail won’t be as brutally hard-

Final Fantasy 14’s next expansion, Dawntrail, will launch just a week after Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which was a deliberate decision to get out of FromSoftware’s way, the MMO’s director Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) said at PAX East earlier this year.

While Yoshida insisted at the time it wasn’t because he personally wanted to play Shadow of the Erdtree (and I totally believe him), he told PC Gamer in a recent interview that almost everyone on the team are fans of the game and that we could see some inspiration from it in Dawntrail.

“I think in the development team for Final Fantasy 14, possibly 98% [of them] are playing Elden Ring,” Yoshida said (via a translator).

“When it comes to the people involved in the battle content on our team,…

The acclaimed Hellblade- Senua’s Sacrifice, a game with over 52,000 ‘Very Positive’ reviews on Steam, is now cheaper than a coffee thanks to this massive price cut-

Coming seemingly out of nowhere, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice delivered a PC gaming experience that nobody had experienced before. Slipping into the shoes of broken Celtic warrior Senua, gamers set off on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of Senua’s dead lover. As well as being an audio-visual tour de force, Hellblade also deftly explored themes of psychosis and mental health.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, made by British development studio Ninja Theory, was rewarded by critics, too, bagging no less than five BAFTA awards, as well as being honored at The Game Awards and other events such as The Golden Joysticks. That’s why its sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, coming later this year in…
